Last year, we flipped the script on Black Friday. Instead of getting caught up in the usual discount frenzy, we rallied our community around something bigger: funding urgent research in women’s health.

And wow, did you show up! Together, our Bright Friday campaign raised an incredible £11,114 in just over a week. That’s 2,340 of you across 14 countries choosing progress over panic buying. Thanks to you, 20% of every sale went straight to Wellbeing of Women, a charity pioneering research that’s long overdue.

Because of your incredible support, change is already in motion. Let’s break down exactly where your funds are going, along with the vital projects you’ve helped bring to life.

Why We Partnered with Wellbeing of Women

At Daye, our mission is to raise the bar in gynaecological health research and innovation and close the gender health gap for good. We’re not just building better products for women and AFAB folks, we’re fighting for better care, better research and a brighter future for the generations to come. That’s why teaming up with Wellbeing of Women made perfect sense. They’re a charity leading the way in women’s health research, and like us, they’re not afraid to challenge the status quo and push for real progress.

Wellbeing of Women has been funding groundbreaking research for decades, tackling urgent issues like endometriosis, heavy periods, and gynaecological cancers – areas that affect millions worldwide but still don’t get the attention (or funding) they deserve.

Nearly 40 years ago, Wellbeing of Women helped fund the research that made ultrasound a standard part of pregnancy care; first to spot conditions like Spina Bifida and then to monitor high-risk pregnancies using Doppler scans. That research changed the game for mothers and babies everywhere. They also funded one of the first pieces of research to confirm the link between HPV infection and cervical cancer, a link that ultimately led to a national screening program in the UK and HPV vaccine which has seen a 63% decrease in cervical cancers.

Wellbeing of Women is filling the gaps where the system has fallen short and we’re proud to stand alongside them. By backing their work through Bright Friday, you not only funded essential research – you helped rewrite the future of women’s health for generations to come.

Your Impact in Numbers

Here’s a quick look at what we achieved together:

thank you message bubble

  • \£11,114 raised in just 10 days (that’s 20% of every order between November 25th and December 4th).
  • 2,340 customers across 14 different countries joined the movement.

Your support helped power research projects tackling the most urgent, underfunded issues in women’s health, including:

  • A new non-hormonal, non-surgical drug for endometriosis pain
  • Using menstrual fluid as a diagnostic tool for heavy periods
  • Investigating the causes of heavy bleeding in endometriosis
  • Research into gynaecological cancers, including ovarian and endometrial cancer

This is just the beginning. The money you helped raise is already shaping the future of women’s health, and we’re so proud to be part of these groundbreaking studies.

The Research You Helped Fund

A New Non-Hormonal, Non-Surgical Drug for Endometriosis Pain

Endometriosis affects 190 million women worldwide, causing chronic pain, heavy bleeding, and infertility – and current treatment options aren’t cutting it. Many rely on hormonal therapies with harsh side effects or invasive surgeries with no guaranteed relief. Thanks to you, Wellbeing of Women is funding a trial for a non-hormonal, non-surgical drug to manage endometriosis pain. A safer, more effective treatment without trade-offs; this is the kind of solution we really need.

Using Menstrual Fluid as a Diagnostic Tool for Heavy Periods

Heavy periods are common but too often dismissed or misdiagnosed, leaving us to suffer in silence. With your support, research is now exploring whether menstrual fluid can help identify the root causes of heavy bleeding. This could revolutionise diagnosis by offering a non-invasive, simple way to understand menstrual issues. Imagine diagnosing complex conditions with a sample you naturally produce every month. That’s the future you’re helping build.

Understanding How Endometriosis Disrupts Blood Clotting

For patients with endometriosis, heavy bleeding isn’t just a nuisance, it’s debilitating. Supported by Wellbeing of Women, scientists are now working to uncover how endometriosis disrupts blood clotting. By better understanding the reasons behind heavy bleeding, we can develop more targeted treatments that actually work.

Advancing Research into Gynaecological Cancers

Gynaecological cancers (like ovarian, cervical, and uterine) are some of the most serious and life-threatening conditions we face. Despite advances in cancer research, gynae cancers remain difficult to diagnose and treat. Wellbeing of Women are funding multiple studies to improve early detection and treatment options. With your help, this research is giving women and AFAB folks a fighting chance against these devastating diseases.

The Bigger Picture

Women’s health has been overlooked, underfunded and underestimated for far too long. But real change doesn’t happen in silence. It takes people showing up, speaking out and demanding better – just like you did.

From tackling the root causes of endometriosis to fast-tracking research into gynaecological cancers, the projects you helped fund are closing critical gaps in knowledge, diagnosis and treatment.

priceless cost of innovation

The money raised through Bright Friday is already powering life-changing research that could transform care for millions. By skipping the sales and choosing to stand with us, you’re helping rewrite the future of women’s health.

What’s Next?

You turned a weekend of mindless shopping into something truly powerful. Bright Friday wasn’t just a successful campaign, it’s proof of what happens when a community comes together for something bigger.

But the work doesn’t stop here. We’ll continue to partner with incredible organisations like Wellbeing of Women to push gynaecological health research forward – because we urgently need real progress to improve patient outcomes and enable women & AFAB folks to fully take part in our economies and societies, instead of being stuck at home with a hot water bottle.

To everyone who took part in Bright Friday: thank you! Your impact is real, your voice matters, and we can’t wait to show you what’s next.
